Real programs. Real results.
Every grant we write becomes teachers trained, programs launched, and readers grown. Here’s how that looks in practice.

With Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School, Urban Teachers, and the Center for Applied Linguistics, we helped build a two-year Bilingual Teacher Fellowship that developed a homegrown corps of outstanding bilingual educators for the Washington Metro Area.
ESFC developed the TESOL & Dual Language Principles and Differentiation for Language Learners modules, delivered training and mentoring, and gave detailed feedback as teachers built portfolios of proven, equity-rooted practice.
A successful National Dissemination Grant let Mundo Verde and ESFC expand Instituto Mundo Verde far beyond Washington — building a learning management system with interactive content, offering graduate credits and CEUs, and launching English and Spanish cohorts serving hundreds of teachers each year.
ESFC supports the project end to end: content development, live teacher training, participant mentoring and feedback, and project events.

We wrote and now help implement a funded Early Literacy grant using evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading to grow Washington, D.C.’s youngest readers — equipping at-risk, struggling students with the foundational skills to succeed in school and on high-stakes assessments.
The grant funds Science of Reading–trained interventionists, a literacy coach for classroom teachers, high-quality instructional materials aligned with the National Reading Panel skills, and the teacher literacy portal we built and maintain.
We wrote and now help implement a funded Comprehensive Literacy State Development grant using evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading to grow Washington, D.C.’s youngest readers — equipping at-risk, struggling students with the foundational skills to succeed in school and on high-stakes assessments.
The grant funds Science of Reading and Structured Literacy trained literacy coaches/literacy specialists to support classroom teachers, provides high-quality instructional materials aligned with the National Early Literacy Panel (NELP) skills, and updates the teacher literacy portal we built to include an emergent literacy portion focused on core emergent reading skills — phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, print awareness, and oral language. The grant also funds parent literacy training and events, book give-aways, and the creation of a thematic language learning application called “Bridging the Word Gap,” aimed at enhancing the language skills of preschool and pre-kindergarten students to overcome the word gap many students have when they enter school. The application is available in English, Spanish, and Amharic.
